Georgia State Football: Panthers Suffer Big Defeat at Alabama

Georgia State football coach Bill Curry saw his team was in for a long evening in Tuscaloosa.

In several ways, just being there was all that worries for the previous Alabama head coach.

Curry was selected to help begin Georgia State's program, which took the field for the first time in September and came away with a win.

The prospects Thursday night were far bleaker for the Panthers, who presently trail the Tide 42-7 in the second quarter.

Curry, who went 26-10 during his three years as head coach of Alabama, has lead his team to a 6-4 record this season.

The best remarkable show may have actually come in a loss.

Georgia State pushed Jacksonville State, a team that beat Ole Miss, to overtime before subsiding just short.

It's surely been a whimsical first season of existence for the Panthers' program.

Besides getting a game alongside Alabama on the schedule to bring in revenue, Georgia State also landed on the cover of ESPN the Magazine.

Not bad for a school with an inexperienced football team.

Geminid Meteor Shower: Dec. 13 & 14

Witness the yearly Geminid Meteor Shower on Monday and Tuesday night, Dec. 13 &14.

From Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute:

GEMINID METEORS TO BE VISIBLE

Rosman, NC (November 17, 2010) – Astronomers at the Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute (PARI) prompt the public of the annual Geminid Meteor Shower in December.

Meteors outcome from particles of dust triggering the atmosphere to spark as the particles enter the upper atmosphere of the Earth.  Following over a period of searching, astronomers in 1983 determined that the parent body for the debris that causes the Geminids is the asteroid 3200 Phaethon.  This is a bit uncommon as nearly all meteor showers are caused by debris from comets, not asteroids.  But, as Phaethon orbits the Sun, it sheds dust particles that endure as a trail of debris in its path.  Since the Earth encounters this trail of debris at the identical point in space each time it makes its annual revolution around the Sun, we observe the Geminids on the same date each year, around December 13-14.

In 2010 the Geminids should reach a peak of about 120 meteors per hour about 8 p.m. EST on Monday, December 13.  The Geminid Meteor Shower is one of the more reliable showers and we should see some Geminids for a couple of mornings before the 13th and a morning or two afterwards.  Successful observing of the Geminids can start as early as 10 p.m. and continue until dawn as the constellation of Gemini the twins rises higher in the sky.  One should observe from a clear, dark location with a good horizon.  Look high in the northeast for meteors appearing to radiate out of Gemini.  This year we are only one day following First Quarter Moon.  Thus, the bright moon will be setting about 1 a.m. EST and its light will not interfere with observations of fainter meteors in the predawn skies.

Give it a go; view to the northeast to find the meteors appearing to radiate out of the constellation of Gemini the twins.  Binoculars or telescopes are not needed to observe meteors.

About PARI:  PARI is a not-for-profit foundation established in 1998.  Located in the Pisgah Forest southwest of Asheville, NC, PARI offers educational programs at all levels, from K-12 through post-graduate research.  The institute is affiliated with the 16-campus University of North Carolina system through PARSEC, a UNC Center hosted at PARI, and is a member of the NC Grassroots Museum Collaborative.  For more information about PARI and its programs, visit http://www.pari.edu.

All you need to know about Leonid meteor shower 2010

Stargazers had better take a nap this evening. They could be in for a long night.

The Leonid meteor shower is awaited to make peak visibility near dawn early Thursday morning.

As anticipated, there are a lot of "ifs" that factor into whether Seattle will get a good look at the shower. The meteor shower will be noticeable if there isn't too much cloud coverage and if the moon's light doesn't affect the show.

That last variable is a fear for stargazers elsewhere, too. That's one reason optimal viewing is thought to be in the wee hours of the morning -- after the half-moon sets.

The Leonid shower is one of the greatest high-volume shows the universe puts on, with about 15 meteors per hour. The objects seem to radiate from the constellation Leo.

Here's how NASA describes the shower:

The Leonids have not only produced some of the best meteor showers in history, but they have occasionally achieved the status of meteor storm. During a Leonid meteor storm, many thousands of meteors per hour can bombard across the sky. Scientists believe these storms recur in cycles of about 33 years, though the reason is mysterious. The last documented Leonid meteor storm occurred in 2002.

The meteors are observable from earth every year, but not to the extent of 2002. This year is bringing a more sedate performance from the Leonids, which are active from Nov. 7 through 28.

Cloud coverage is expected for Wednesday night, so Seattle viewers might have a tough time viewing the show. NASA recommends those interested keep an eye out on clear nights up through Nov. 28, when visibility is believed to end.

Analysis: Call Of Duty – Black Ops

The Call Of Duty franchise has been shared among two teams of developers: Infinity Ward, the charm boys who shaped the all-conquering Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2 games, and Treyarch, who crafted the solid but typical World At War.

Lately, though, Infinity Ward has been riven with inner disagreements and walkouts and Treyarch have been playing close thought to what their rivals got right with their last game.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops is the fruit of that study. If you liked Modern Warfare 2 then chances are you’ll like this just as much, if not more.

The single player campaign puts you in the blood-soaked boots of a US CIA operative who manages to discover himself involved in all of the key flashpoints of the Cold War.

The story opens with you, viewing for all the world like David Beckham, being tortured by some unidentifiable foe and experiencing flashbacks to the Bay Of Pigs invasion, The Kennedy assassination and the bloodiest conflicts of the Vietnam War.

The Infinity Ward games had you playing through an interweaving narrative as different characters in an striving, novelistic, approach but Black Ops is a more direct action movie experience.

As a first-person shooter it’s state of the art. The physics and graphics are everything you expect from recent high-end console games and the story hangs together well enough to keep you involved.

As always though it’s the multiplayer that provides the game with its longevity. In that arena Treyarch have given us an embarrassment of riches to play with.

The normal multiplayer is comfortably on a par with Modern Warfare 2, with a new leveling up ‘game currency’ providing extra flexibility and spice. You can now bet your in-game points against other players to win even bigger and better weaponry.

Moreover, fans of World At War’s survival-horror ‘Zombies’ levels get a whole new platoon of blundering undead Nazis to open fire, either solo or with a group of friends.

In conclusion, if you are a working stiff who gets at best an hour of week to play Call Of Duty online and are sick of being royally trounced by the legion of teenage truants who make up the game’s well-practised elite then you’ll be pleased to discover that Black Ops has an offline ‘botmatch’ mode where computer-generated players (amusingly sharing the names of your real online friends) play almost – but pleasingly only almost – as well as real human opponents.

Add to that the sheer joy of piloting an explosives-packed toy car into the room where your opponents are hiding - plus a secret mini arcade game -  and you have an outright winner.

There have been rumblings of some serious problems with the performance of the PC version of the game but our Xbox copy ran like a dream.

Measured alongside the previous Call Of Duty game, it’s a minor but considerable improvement. Pre-orders on the game have been massive and the online community is likely to endure for a long, long time.

You surely only need one state of the art console shooter, and for the predictable future Call Of Duty:Black Ops is it.

Macy's exposes parade appeals

HOBOKEN, N.J. - Seven new floats and two new balloons will do their debut at this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Themes of the new floats vary from Dora the Explorer to landmarks of South Dakota, including a model of Mount Rushmore.

Schoolchildren and regional Boy and Girl Scout troops got a trip Tuesday of the Macy's Parade Studio in Hoboken where the floats are built.

Dancing elves, gigantic ducks, and movie characters in costume greeted the children, who saw how Macy's famous parade balloons are made.

In addition to the floats, this year's lineup of 15 enormous inflated balloons will include a character from the movie Kung Fu Panda and the children's story Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

San Diego State Aztecs Basketball: SDSU Vs 12 Gonzaga: SDSU's Biggest Night

Spokane, WA--- Once being ranked as the 25th Mens Basketball program according to the AP Poll, San Diego State rolled over Long Beach State on Saturday, making the Aztecs ready for its largest challenge in the program's opening night: No. 12 Gonzaga on the road.

Gonzaga has been the WCC consistent season champs consecutively since 1998, and unquestioningly is one of the powerhouses on the West Coast. The arena at Spokane, WA will be the noisiest, hostile environment the Aztecs will meet this regular season.

San Diego State came ready, immediately stepping up to their opponents. In the first half alone, Aztecs shot 18-38 (.474) in the field over Gonzaga's 12-30 (.400).

Malcolm Thomas sat out mainly of the first half with foul trouble, forcing Kawhi Leonard and Billy White to carry the teams offense sharing 12 points and Leonard leading the team with rebounds.

However, San Diego State couldn't find an answer to Gonzaga guard, Stephen Gray, as he led the scoring attack against the Aztecs. Gray single-handely kept the Bulldogs within 4 at the half and ended the game with a career high 35 points.

San Diego State began succumb to pressure.

Out the gate, San Diego State lacked focus as they turned the ball over on their first two possessions, allowing the Gonzaga Bulldogs to go on a 7-0 run before Rahon hit a three pointer to calm the crowd at Spokane.

Malcolm Thomas kept the bench warm as he accumulated the Aztecs' 4 fouls, giving the night's rebound duties to Leonard and White.

The lost opportunities on sloppy play allowed Gonzaga shooters, Sacre and Goodson, to get hot.

The Aztecs needed someone to carry them.

Billy White took the opportunity to put the Aztecs on his back scoring 21 midway through the second half, shooting 10-15 (.666).At the 11:11 mark, White slices through the Gonzaga baseline coming up with a three point play. Then off the missed free throw attempt, White hits a three pointer to quickly put the Aztecs up by 7, 64-57.

Then San Diego State stepped on the pedal.

Malcolm Thomas re-entered the game and San Diego State's tempo gets aggressive, forcing turnovers off lazy passes and out rebounding the Bulldogs.

On other side, Stephen Gray delayed the Aztecs thoughts of an upset with consistent, outstanding offensive play.

If the Aztecs were stepping on the pedal, Stephen Gray was the cop who kept chase. Stephen Gray also hit his career high and let Spokane know that he was going to will them into victory.

Aztec fouls allowed the Bulldogs to stay in the game and by game's end, Gonzaga took to the line 27 times, making 21 shots.

Uh-oh, game's getting close.

Though Aztecs gave the Bulldogs an early double bonus, their rebounding game kept them in the driver's seat. The Aztecs out rebounded the Bulldogs 30-22, and 10 of the Aztec rebounds came from Kawhi Leonard.

Down to the wire, Gray pulls Gonzaga within 77-76 with 23 seconds left.

Kawhi Leonard gets fouled off the in-bound and goes to the line.

Coming hooked on this period, Aztecs knew they needed to develop their bad luck at the charity line from previous season.

Leonard hits two clutch free throws to put SDSU ahead 79-76.

Gray felt he had one more marvel left, but his three point effort fell short. White's performance outshines Gray's and the Aztecs left Spokane, WA with a triumph, earning their stripes as a top 25, even perhaps a top 15 program.

Steelers got new contract for Shaun Suisham

Shaun Suisham
For eight years, the Pittsburgh tolerated Jeff Reed's off-field incidents and had no issues with his platinum-dyed hair and eccentricity. What they couldn't excuse were his blunders.

Reed, who set off the season as one of the 10 most precise kickers in NFL history but was unreliable all season, was cut Tuesday and replaced by former Washington kicker Shaun Suisham.

Shaun Suisham was former Washington kicker
Suisham was signed straightaway after working out at Heinz Field, where Reed blamed the slippery, unsteady turf for his 26-yard miss against the Patriots on Sunday.

Reed has missed seven of 22 attempts overall, including all four between the 40- and 49-yard lines. He was 4 of 9 at Heinz Field, where swirling winds and mushy grass make kicking difficult.

Antonio Margarito's undergo for surgery

Getting hit hard
Antonio Margarito undertook effective operation on his fractured right orbital bone at Methodist Hospital in Dallas on Tuesday, three days after Manny Pacquiao ruined his face in a one-sided junior middleweight title bout at Cowboys Stadium.

"The surgeon told us all went faultless, no problems of any kind," co-manager Sergio Diaz said in a statement released by promoter Top Rank. "There is nothing mistaken with his right eye. Antonio is such a warrior. The first thing he asked was, 'when can I start running,' and we advised him he has to ease for a while."

Certainly, Margarito has been ordered to rest for at least 60 days without any contact.

Margarito will stay in the hospital overnight Tuesday and plans to return to Los Angeles on Wednesday with his team: wife Michel, co-managers Diaz and Francisco Espinoza and trainer Robert Garcia, all of whom have been with him since the fight.

Margarito also needed six stitches in his right cheek and three in his right eyebrow to close cuts.

Margarito, a three-time welterweight titlist, went the distance with Pacquiao but was punished throughout the fight despite outweighing Pacquiao by 17 pounds and having a 6-inch reach advantage and 4¼-inch height advantage.

Pacquiao won easily on all three scorecards -- 120-108, 119-109 and 118-110 -- to claim a vacant junior middleweight belt in a record-extending eighth weight division. Pacquiao is also the only fighter in boxing history to win titles in seven weight classes.

Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 KOs) fractured Margarito's orbital bone in the fourth round, swelling his right eye and badly bruising it.

Pacquiao pounded on Margarito so severely that at one point in the 11th round he looked to referee Laurence Cole and asked him to stop the fight. After the fight, Pacquiao said he carried Margarito in the final round because he did not want to inflict anymore damage to him.

"I fought as hard as I could against a great champion in Manny Pacquiao," Margarito said.

"Can you believe it, he wanted to start running," Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told ESPN.com. "But he's not going to have any kind of training until at least February. He needs to rest."

Arum said he is not sure yet what kind of fight he will try to make for Margarito when he comes back.

He said he would like to make another game between Margarito (38-7, 27 KOs) and Miguel Cotto, who waged an epic fight in July 2008. Margarito stopped Cotto in the 11th round of the welterweight title fight. In Margarito's next fight, a ninth-round knockout defeat to Shane Mosley in January 2009, Margarito was discovered to have loaded hand wraps in the dressing room before the fight. There are many who believe that he fought Cotto with loaded gloves because of the significant facial damage he inflicted on him.

"I always imagined Margarito and Cotto being an immense battle again, but Cotto may not want to wait that long," Arum said, noting that Cotto probably will return in April, which is before Margarito likely would fight again.

Instead, Cotto, who won a junior middleweight belt in June, could face Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in April as long as Chavez defeats Alfonso Gomez in the main event of Top Rank's "In Harm's Way" pay-per-view card from Anaheim, Calif., on Dec. 4.

"Let's see how Chavez looks and if Chavez looks good on Dec. 4, maybe I'll make Cotto and Chavez," Arum said. "[Top Rank matchmaker] Bruce [Trampler] said he doesn't see any cause not to make that match. So with Margarito, let's assume Cotto fights Chavez. I'll get Tony another fight and maybe he'll fight the Cotto-Chavez winner sometime in the fall."

Arum said he would also be attracted in matching Margarito with middleweight champion Sergio Martinez, who is promoted by Lou DiBella, if Martinez defends his title against Paul Williams in their rematch on Saturday night (HBO, 10 ET) in Atlantic City, N.J. HBO will also replay Pacquiao-Margarito on the telecast.

Although Martinez is the middleweight winner and a previous junior middleweight titleholder, he suffered his first career defeat in a 2000 welterweight fight when Margarito stopped him in the seventh round.

Arum is expecting more pay-per-view totals from Pacquiao-Margarito, but based on what has already come in, he said the worst the fight would do is 1.25 million buys.

"We got the numbers from Dish Network and they were very, very good," Arum said. "The Dish Network number is bigger than the number we did for Pacquiao when he fought [Oscar] De La Hoya [in December 2008]. But we don't have the DirecTV number yet. But we have every suggestion from the cable systems that the numbers are very strong."

Get Latest Patch Update for Black Ops PC

To the pleasure of numerous PC gamers the world over, the PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops is being patched. This doesn’t arise much as a surprise, but it is decent to hear that Treyarch is mad at the helm to repair the bugs that are plaguing their PC masterwork. Here is a look at what is getting handled in the new update:

# GPU hitching on certain graphics cards.
# Lacking server browser results.
# Improvements to Quickmatch joins (results with better ping and reduced lag).
# Zombies “The game session is no longer available” error.

So, with this new piece of info, we have a fun little chat question for you. Do you think that Black Ops is more glitchy than other games in the series, or is it just that since new people are playing it, more are noticing it? I happen to think it’s the latter choice, but that’s just me.

No exact date has been given for the update, but as at all times, we consider it to be “soon.”

Video of Call of Duty: Black Ops - World Premiere Uncut

Previously we have brought you the Ad Scans for several different stores such as Toys ‘R’ Us, Tommy Hilfiger, Lowe’s, Macy’s, Best Buy and an interactive ad from Walmart, but there is something that is surprising me. Why not with the biggest selling game ever use that to get people into the store?

Would you imagine that on an Ad Scan? COD Black Ops sale, come and get it! With Black Ops being so well-known really it would have people flocking into the store. If it was on the market would you incorporate a store in and pick up your copy already, or were you pitched outside the shops within the release day?

So far I have only seen a couple of deals for Modern Warfare 2 but isn’t that game out of date now? Also the only copies I have seen are on the PC, surely they would market this on the major consoles such as the Xbox and PS3.

If Black Ops was included would you get it on Black Friday? In case you were doing the ads, would you include it?

Videos Of Big Sis Caught Lying

Big Sis, or else also known as Homeland Security head Janet Napolitano, have been caught lying to every person who’s worried about the airport scanning machines and full-body pat-downs all across America’s airports, reports say.

In a piece of writing which has been published in USA today, Big Sis has said things that have turned out to be lies. Napolitano asserted that the scanning machines are: safe for people’s health, effective in exposing security threats, and unable to store/print/send images. She also said that the pat-downs are “discreet”.

But, researchers, airport staff, parents, Muslim groups, and the like all beg to differ. Scanners can boost the risks of skin cancer, they have not been the source of even one security success story, and they also do store and print and can even transfer images. On the issue of discretion of the pat-downs, there's no one alive who would believe that being touched on private areas like your chest and your genitals – on an airport, before everybody – is such a comforting, assuring feeling.

What is Ultra Defragger and How It Will Damage Your PC?

Ultra Defragger, Working and removal – UltraDefrager is a virus which is intervening towards our systems today and just creates a mess. It is bogus computer defragmenter and your executables are hindered from execution. Ultra Defragger pretends to become a optimisation program that shall scan your hard drive but it really does far more harm than good.

Unfortunately if you have installed it and after logging in to your own windows, a numerous number of the fake error messages will be start displaying whenever you will start a program or erase a file.

This will likely urge you to scan the computer with the program and the error which shows will say that these errors can only be fixed if you purchase the program and it will show you a safe mode untill you buy it.

Interesting part is that the whole story is fake. It will do it smartly and you might think this is a real mess but actually its not. More worries shall be following you when you observe that opening a folder doesnt contain the content it should have in it. Ultra Defragger shows you different content in different folders making you believe that your hard drive is upset.

Some of the fake error messages which you might see are as follows:

* Bad sectors on hard drive or damaged file allocation table
* GPU RAM temperature is critically high. Urgent RAM memory optimization is required to prevent system crash
* Drive C initializing error
* Ram Temperature is 83 C. Optimization is required for normal operation.
* Requested registry access is not allowed. Registry defragmentation required
* Read time of hard drive clusters less than 500 ms
* 32% of HDD space is unreadable
* Hard drive doesn’t respond to system commands
* Data Safety Problem. System integrity is at risk.
* Registry Error – Critical Error

Now if you are effected with this how to remove it, here is the procedure. First thing to do is to stop its processes by which it effects the system. Start task manager and stop each n every processes that is occurring and is mentioned in the process box. Ultra Defragger normally uses numerical processes like 2156421316. exe and ipshdfuibasjkbgj. exe so for seeking them you search in C: /Users/[Username]/Appdata/Local/Temp folder on Windows 7 and C: /Documents and Settings/[Username]/Application Data/Local/Temp on older windows editions. Then it is highly recommended that you use Spyware Doctor or Malwarebytes to remove all the infections from your computer. Also run the CCleaner to clean up temporary files from it and then be aware of these kind of programs.

MetroPCS Thinking about LTE Samsung Galaxy S, VoLTE Testing in 2011.

Talking in the Wells Fargo Securities 2010 Technology, Media and Telecom Conference, MetroPCS CFO J. Braxton Carter has hinted that the carrier is considering establishing the Samsung Galaxy S in an LTE variant in an attempt to move to higher end systems with its LTE network, as evidenced with the launch of the Samsung Craft currently sold at $249. 99, with future LTE phones priced around the aforementioned range.

Carter has also verified that the carrier is testing VoLTE over its LTE network with the testing currently underway into next year. As soon as testing is completed, commercial availability will not be considered until the end of 2011 into 2012, as the carrier is limited by the lack of spectrum necessary for its LTE deployment on the 1700 MHz band in select markets such as Philadelphia.

Aung San Suu Kyi shifts position on sanctions

Released Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi has decided to talk to European leaders about cutting down sanctions on her land.

It is a important move for Aung San Suu Kyi, who in the past has supported sanctions as a way of pressuring the junta, and even questioned visitors visiting for the country because their cash helps fund the regime.

But there's matter that the sanctions affect the folks of Burma a lot more than they do its military-turned-civilian government.

In a press conference, the Nobel Laureate and democracy icon said she would talk to Western leaders about removing sanctions - if that was what the Burmese people wanted.

Ms Suu Kyi addressed tens of thousands of her supporters in her first speech in seven years, outside the headquarters of her banned political party, the National League for Democracy (NLD).

"I want to hear the voice of the people, after that we will decide what we want to do, " she told the sea of followers.

"I want to work with all democratic forces.

"I believe in human rights and I believe in the rule of law. "

She told them she wants to find out what has changed during her most recent period of detention and to find out what they want.

She asked them not to give up hope for change, to have courage and perservere and to take an interest in politics because its important, and said freedom of speech is essential for democratic freedom.

Ms Suu Kyi had been under house arrest since 2003 - just one of several stretches of detention at the hands of the ruling generals.

Her sentence was extended last year over a bizarre incident in which an American swam uninvited to her lakeside home, sparking international condemnation and keeping her off the scene for last Sunday's vote.

The pro-democracy leader swept her party to victory in a 1990 election, but it was never allowed to take power.

Ms Suu Kyi's struggle for her country has come at a high personal cost: her husband, British academic Michael Aris, died in 1999, and in the final stages of his battle with cancer the junta refused him a visa to see his wife.

She has not seen her two sons for about a decade and has never met her grandchildren.

Weather condition disrupts play in Singapore.

Play in the final round of the Barclays Singapore Open have been postponed caused by thunderstorms.

Adam Scott, Ian Poulter and Kang Kyung-nam were in a share of the lead on 14 under par when proceedings were brought to a halt because of the weather.

Both Poulter and Kang had just birdied the third to draw level with Scott. Graeme McDowell and Anders Hansen were tied for fourth on 12 under through four holes.

Play resumed at 5: 25pm local time following a delay of over five and a half hours although the lengthy suspension means the tournament is now unlikely to be concluded until Monday morning.

Cam Newton, Auburn clinch SEC West title

BATON ROUGE, La. — What happens if Auburn continues to win out and finishes in the top two of the final BCS standings Dec. 5, and then quarterback Cam Newton is declared ineligible by the NCAA before the Jan. 10 BCS national championship game in Glendale, Ariz.?

"I think it's crucial that the Cam Newton investigation come to some sort of conclusion before the final BCS poll, " BCS expert Brad Edwards of ESPN said last week. "It would be a nightmare if the BCS game is set with Auburn, and then Cam Newton is ruled ineligible for the game. It could cause a huge mess. "

New NCAA President Mark Emmert was posed that question on Saturday night in the Tiger Stadium press box as he made a public visit to LSU, where he was once the chancellor.

"Obviously I can't talk about any case or anything that's an ongoing investigation, but cases come up when they come up, " Emmert said as Auburn was on its way to a 49-31 win over Georgia on a television behind him. "And if they come up during the season, then they're investigated at the same level as if they come up after the season. "

The win over Georgia put BCS No. 2 Auburn (11-0, 7-0 Southeastern Conference) into the SEC Championship game in Atlanta against South Carolina on Dec. 4. Should Auburn beat Alabama in its regular season finale Nov. 26 and win the SEC title game, it will play in the BCS title game, barring any penalties from the investigation into an alleged play-for-pay scandal involving Newton and his father, Cecil Newton.

The allegations didn't seem to put a damper on how Cam Newton played Saturday. He passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more against Georgia.

"I'm just very proud of the way he played, " Coach Gene Chizik said. "He's a really, really talented, extremely gifted player who means a lot of our football team. "

Auburn officials refused to make Newton available to the media.

Chizik went along with that theme, saying right at the start of his news conference he would answer questions only about what happened on the field.

Auburn survived another high-scoring, back-and-forth affair Saturday, rallying from an early 21-7 deficit to tie it up by halftime. The Tigers kept the momentum going with a daring onside kick to start the third quarter, recovering the ball and driving for the go-ahead touchdown.

Georgia (5-6, 3-5) hung tough behind A. J. Green's nine-catch, 164-yard performance, tying the game again at 28-all before Auburn went ahead for good on Onterio McCalebb's 4-yard touchdown run. Newton finished off the Bulldogs with his second scoring pass of the game to tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen, a 13-yarder with 8: 05 remaining.

Sam Kinison: Back From Hell

Sam Kinison was a master of the loud, obnoxious and vile stand up comedy of which most of us all came to know and enjoy. Preachers spoke out in opposition to him, musicians like Motley Crew promoted him and well, not stand up comedy is paying tribute to him.

Many cable channels are airing 'Back from Hell: A Tribute to Sam Kinison' and the ensemble cast comprises a variety of contemporary comedians from Chris Rock, Denis Leary and Jay Leno to Kathy Griffin and Lewis Black who reflect on the crazed persona of the wild mullet headed man with that loud ear piercing scream.

If you're in the feeling for some raunchy comedy you'll definitely want to check out this tribute to Sam Kinison.

Teachers concern restraining forces will deliver turmoil

Thousands of teachers in the UK fear chaos in the classroom if the Govt goes forward with strategies to give them strength to restrain and search unruly students with no appropriate training.

Four out of five teachers surveyed by the Teacher Support Network warn that extra training is essential if they are to get a grip on misbehavior during lessons and avoid injury and false accusations of abuse when breaking up fights. Some teaching unions believe trained security staff should be employed by all schools to carry out searches and impose discipline.

Teachers insist that sustained "low-level" disruption is what causes the most stress. A study by Warwick University found that while the number of serious incidents in 2008 was lower than in 2001, those involved were more severely affected.

Teaching leaders claim that unless the issue is tackled in schools, the problems will continue into adult life. Problems range from name-calling and minor scuffles to homophobic and racist abuse, cyber-bullying and teachers being seriously assaulted. A survey of about 1, 000 members of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers (ATL) found that more than half had been confronted with aggression in the classroom in the past year. Almost 60 per cent agreed that behaviour had got worse in the past five years.

An investigation by The Independent on Sunday has established that children as young as six have been physically restrained by staff to prevent their aggressive behaviour from endangering teachers and other pupils.

On Wednesday, Nick Gibb, the schools minister, will confirm to MPs that teachers will be given anonymity in cases where pupils make serious allegations against them in an effort to prevent malicious claims being made.

The National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT) points to figures which show that in 2009 more than 1, 700 staff in UK schools were accused of "misbehaviour" by parents or pupils, of which only 143 were dismissed or resigned and "a small percentage" merited police investigation.

"The key issue is that teachers are particularly vulnerable to false allegations by pupils, " said a spokesperson from the NASUWT teachers' union. "This can have a devastating effect on their professional reputation, as well as their personal well-being. Teachers have found that due to inconsistencies in reporting by police, a Criminal Records Bureau check will make reference to an allegation, even though it is unfounded. "

Mr Gibb will also be challenged by the education select committee over proposals to give teachers power to restrain unruly pupils and carry out searches for phones, pornography, music players, cigarettes and knives. However, there are already concerns about the number of councils that do not keep records of teachers physically intervening in incidents. An IoS survey revealed that only 30 out of more than 200 UK councils keep records of the number of times teachers physically have to restrain pupils in schools. But most of the local education authorities (LEAs) that did produce figures showed a steep increase in the number of children subjected to restraint holds.

Hampshire County Council recorded 4, 799 restraint incidents over the past five years. In Redbridge, the total almost doubled from 59 in 2005 to 113 in 2009. During the same period,

the annual total for Stockport rose from 19 to 143.

Some teachers fear the government proposals "may potentially create further difficulties". Dr Maggie Atkinson, the Children's Commissioner for England, and the Children's Rights Alliance are leading calls for official records to be kept in all schools, "with an expectation that head teachers monitor their use to discourage ineffective teachers from becoming over-reliant on [the enhanced powers]". In a new pamphlet entitled The Classroom of Today – Seat of Learning or Educational Warzone?,Dr Atkinson seeks to dispel the perception that "most teenagers leave the house for school every morning armed to the teeth and intent on creating as much mayhem as they can get away with".

The National Union for Teachers (NUT) is demanding an "unequivocal statement" from ministers that if teachers use their powers to search pupils or their rights regarding physical restraint, "there will be no unforeseen consequences arising from their actions". "Teachers have a duty of care to pupils which may at times cause them to intervene to protect pupils from harming themselves or other pupils, " the NUT warned. "Many are currently not confident that if they take such action they will be supported by senior leadership teams, parents or the local authority. "

Helen Earl, an educational psychologist at Cumbria County Council, said: "On the occasions when teachers need to search pupils, we need to be more precise so we are not opening up opportunities for accusations. "

David Leadbetter, a former social worker who has trained Scottish teachers to handle disruptive youngsters, believes the failure to train staff in proper restraint techniques is a major concern. He said: "There is a hidden epidemic of restraint injuries, fatalities and near misses. "

Alison Peacock, a "super-head" who turned round a primary school in Hertfordshire, recalled the "challenging behavior" when she first took over, which included "children throwing furniture, punching and kicking between children, physical assaults and verbal abuse of staff, racial and gender intolerance and abuse". She said: "The behaviour of the parents whose children were acting out was often far more challenging than that of their offspring. "

Case studies

Dee Tomlin

Music teacher at a secondary school in Oxfordshire

"I was attacked at another school. I was taking choir practice and I went out and asked her not to kick a door. It doesn't happen to every teacher, but it does happen.

"Teachers suffer a huge amount of stress through behaviour issues. If behaviour is dealt with consistently, the kids know where they stand. If not, kids see a way round it. Most of the time it is a minority, but they are a very, very loud minority. What about the silent majority of kids who don't misbehave? We have got to make sure the majority don't suffer as well.

"The new rules on restraint have to be dealt with very carefully. [Ministers] need to involve the unions and talk to teachers who have experience, not just deciding themselves sitting in offices in Whitehall. "

Alec Clark

Head of pupil referral unit in South Wales

When Dr Clark began his teaching career at a Catholic girls' school in London, the worst misbehavior he ever faced in the classroom was a frustrated pupil telling him to shut up.

Ten years later, as the head of a pupil referral unit (PRU), his staff are confronted with intimidation and violence on a daily basis.

"Behavior is certainly getting worse, " said Dr Clark, whose unit deals with some of the most disruptive pupils in the Rhondda Cynon Taff area. At least one of them is only four years old. "We are picking them up younger, and there are many more girls, " Dr Clark added. "I think the deterioration in behaviour stems from a poverty of aspiration. Education isn't important to them, so they couldn't give a monkey's about behaving themselves at school.

"We are losing the bright fresh teachers, and it also makes it even more stressful for guys including me personally who stay. However it as well creates a large part of the teaching practise who are worn out and there only because they have got a mortgage to cover. That is in no one's interests. ".

Could Alejandra Nash Affect Future NBA Betting Odds For Suns?

As soon as gamblers think about the Phoenix Suns within the past few years, Steve Nash is often the first person that comes to thoughts. Nash acknowledged this few days that he has been segregated from his other half Alejandra, which the couple is actually getting divorced. The news comes one day after the couples son was given birth.

Gamblers have always been fond of Nash for his amazing play-making abilities and his insistence on getting his teammates involved. With the announcements of the divorce, gamblers are now wondering what affect the divorce will have on Nash and the betting odds for Phoenix in the near future.

Anytime a couple goes through a break up, it is hard dealing with the adjustment period that follows. Nash and his wife have been married for five years, and with the birth of their son, the adjustment period may take longer than if children were not involved. Still, Nash insists that the divorce will not be a hindrance on their children or his game.

"I want only good things for Ale going forward, " said Nash, as reported by The Associated Press. "I'm focused on ensuring that our children understand how much they're adored and loved by us as they continue to adjust to these changes. I would ask that their privacy, and ours as a family, be respected as we move forward. This will be my only statement on this. "

While that may be good enough for his fans, bettors may be inclined to see how the situation plays out before trusting the Suns with their money. Phoenix has a game Sunday in Los Angeles against the two-time defending champion Lakers, and they also will play the new look Miami Heat early this week.

Phoenix had already fallen out of favor with gamblers this season after losing Amare Stoudemire to free agency this summer. The loss of Stoudemire has many, including the odds makers, believing that it can be a long shot that Phoenix can go back to the Western Conference finals again this year.
