Macy's exposes parade appeals

HOBOKEN, N.J. - Seven new floats and two new balloons will do their debut at this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Themes of the new floats vary from Dora the Explorer to landmarks of South Dakota, including a model of Mount Rushmore.

Schoolchildren and regional Boy and Girl Scout troops got a trip Tuesday of the Macy's Parade Studio in Hoboken where the floats are built.

Dancing elves, gigantic ducks, and movie characters in costume greeted the children, who saw how Macy's famous parade balloons are made.

In addition to the floats, this year's lineup of 15 enormous inflated balloons will include a character from the movie Kung Fu Panda and the children's story Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
